Chuck was recently named Chairman of CompTIA’s New and Emerging Technology Committee. The committee address the impacts of social media, big data and data analytics, cloud, mobility, and the Internet of Things. The new committee will be tasked with bringing together the brightest technological minds in industry to help address the current and future emerging technology policy landscape The Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is the voice of the information technology (IT) industry. Its 2,000+ member companies.
Chuck has also been nominated for the “Cybersecurity Marketer of the Year” for the “The 2016 Cybersecurity Excellence Awards honor individuals and companies that demonstrate excellence, innovation and leadership in information security. Chuck is a pioneer in both media and social media with a very large global following and has brought significant attention to technology and cybersecurity policy issues from his frequent articles in Federal Times, The Hill, and Government Security News, and especially on LinkedIn.
Chuck serves as co-leader for two of the most prominent Homeland Security Groups on Linked In–“Homeland Security” and “US Homeland Security, DHS” (with over 50,000 combined members). He also has one of the top viewed profiles on LinkedIn. He is prolific in posting original thought leadership articles on the medium. In this regard, he was recently chosen as a “LinkedIn Global Goodwill Ambassador” by Richard DiPilla of the Berkshire Hathaway Media Group.
He recently served as the Lead Judge for The Government Security News 2015 Homeland Security Awards. Chuck is well-known and highly respected in the greater Homeland Security community for his substantive knowledge and experience on security-related issues.
Chuck Brooks serves as the Vice President for Government Relations & Marketing for Sutherland Government Solutions. Chuck is also an Advisor to the Bill and Melinda Gates Technology Partner network and a SME for the Homeland Defense & Security Information Analysis Center, HDIAC.
In government, he served at the Department of Homeland Security as the first Director of Legislative Affairs for the Science & Technology Directorate. He also spent six years on Capitol Hill as a Senior Advisor to the late Senator Arlen Specter where he covered foreign affairs, business, and technology issues. Chuck was an Adjunct Faculty Member at Johns Hopkins University where he taught homeland security.
