BOULDER, COLORADO – Sept. 4, 2014 – Ecrypt Technologies (OTCQB:ECRY) announced that the Safe America Foundation has named Ecrypt Technologies, Inc.’s CEO, Dr. Thomas A. Cellucci as Chairman of its “BE Safe America” National Fund Drive.
Cellucci will also join the Foundation’s Board of Directors and will help lead programming designed to protect America from future disasters.
“Tom Cellucci is one of America’s most respected leaders and we are delighted to have him chair the BE Safe America campaign,” said Foundation CEO Len Pagano. “With Tom’s leadership, we will grow a fund that underwrites the kind of resiliency that helps Americans survive disasters.”
Cellucci was recruited from a pool of top leaders, standing apart because of his long service to the nation under President George W. Bush and President Barack H. Obama.
“We selected Tom because of his unique perspective and experience of teaming with leaders, no matter what their specific perspective or affiliation,” Pagano observed. “Tom’s attributes – of being a problem-solver and strategic thinker who knows no stranger – will help us bridge the many perspectives in America. Our goal: to bring together the best-and-brightest, knowing our unifying factor is our common American heritage.”
BE Safe America is a program designed to help America handle emergencies better – whether they are weather-related, active-shooter or terrorist. Going into its sixth year, it has annually conducted a 60-day “drill season” in which American firms and communities – along with private citizens – are encouraged to rehearse how they would respond during a crisis. The goal: helping Americans realize that in an emergency, they can survive on their own. Since its beginning in 2009, over 4 million Americans have been involved in grassroots training and exercises.
“We’ve coined the term “YOU are your own first responder” – and that reality has been reinforced by every crisis since 9/11,” Pagano said. “Whether it’s a hurricane, an active shooter incident or a scare like Ebola, we all know that it’s critical to be ‘prepared’ to take action.”
BE Safe America will launch its national program on September 11th, partnering with over two dozen organizations. The Association for Contingency Planners – and its 42 chapters and 2,400 members – will help lead this year’s program. Along with the US Medical Reserve Corps, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Operation HOPE, IAEM, NEMA, Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the Hearing Loss Association of America. Financial support has come from the UPS Foundation, Wal-Mart, Sprint and Federal Signal. This year’s goal: to reach over 50 million Americans and engage them in learning how to survive disasters.
“Safe America began with no government funding – and has done an incredible job,” Cellucci observed. “My goal is to drive funding to enable Safe America to realize its vision of educating Americans on how to survive a disaster and build the mental toughness so communities don’t ‘fall apart’ after a catastrophic event.”
